Horses Available For Lease

  • Half Lease Only: Lighter Built Large Pony Mare

Summer is currently playing one student’s first kiddie eventer, another student’s first kiddie showjumper, and a third’s first proper dressage mount, and has room in her schedule for a half lease as well. She is a fairly scopey jumper for her small size and a super cute mover who can frame up pretty as you please if you just know how to ask. She has a great brain and is the same pony at shows and on the trails as she is at home, and is a fantastic teacher because she’s very safe but also has just the right amount of sass to delight in telling on the kids when they get complacent and stop riding.

  • Half Lease Only: Very Versatile Potato

Yukon Gold is a hunter-jumper short stirrup veteran, who also does low level dressage, trail rides, gamely joins in mounted games offered as fun classes at schooling shows, and is the class clown despite being the oldest lesson horse. He really looks out for the kids even though he makes them work for things, and is our go-to pony for the kids’ first lessons, first crossrails, etc. At 14.1 and drafty, he can also carry most adults easily.

  • Half Lease Only: Green Hunter Mare

    Available January-ish

Sage is a bigger-bodied 15.3hh and 7 years old. She is coming along very nicely as a hunter but has done a little bit of cross training in dressage and enjoys trail riding, and has the temperament that tells us we have a fabulous schoolmaster for the future. She’s generally quiet but not a deadhead, with no buck/rear/bolt/spook that we have seen to date however being green she can still have the occasional awkward jump or psych herself out when the rider gives her unclear signals. She is jumping low courses including fillers and oxers, rose to the challenges of covering a couple of beginner lessons while another horse was on layup and being used in pony camp summer ‘24, has shown herself to be a quick learner, and brought home an armload of primary color ribbons including a reserve champion from a recent show.

  • Don't See What You're Looking For? Ask About Half Leasing A Lesson Horse

Although we haven’t listed all of them as available, we have lesson horses ranging from 14.1hh to a sturdy 15.3hh with skill sets that include both dressage and/or jumping, whose schedules can often be arranged to make space for on-site half leases to advanced beginners and up. In rare cases a full lease (on-site only) may be considered.

Half leases include use of the horse three days per week. Pricing varies by horse, and in some cases is as low as simply splitting the cost of the horse’s routine maintenance (all arranged and provided by TRF) with us. Terms of the lease will vary based on the horse, the rider’s experience level, and the rider’s goals, but in most cases the lessee will be required to take weekly lessons with an instructor approved by TRF.

    Transportation to shows is available!
